A pioneer in British and European women’s surfing, Arlene Maltman was one of the first female surfing champions. She won the 1983 European Championships, the British Championships in 1984 and 1986 and was a member of Team GB at 3 World Games. She went on to compete at numerous professional championships across the globe and was the first female surfer to be on the cover of a European surfing magazine.
Her journey started at her home break in Jersey, CI in the summer of 1976, when aged 11, she borrowed a board and tried out surfing for the very first time. This then led her to a lifelong passion and connection to the ocean.
